City workers and contractors try to repair a broken water transmission line in the Rio Vista Terrace subdivision. The aging neighborhood is slate for major capital improvements totaling more than $12 million.

From the city of San Marcos

The city’s Engineering and Environment department will hold a neighborhood meeting Thursday, May 29, 2008 to inform residents of the status of the Rio Vista Terrace Project.

The meeting will be held at the San Marcos Nature Center located at 430 Riverside Drive at 6:00 p.m.

Octavio Garza and Kathy Woodlee, Senior Engineers and Project Managers, will conduct the meeting and report on Phase 1 of the project. This phase is the installation of new wastewater lines in the utility corridors affecting four blocks of the neighborhood. Construction will begin in the next few weeks and is expected to take approximately five months.

Additional City engineers and consultants will be on hand to answer questions and provide important information for owners and residents of lots affected by this phase.

The final design for Phase II of the project is almost complete and construction is slated to begin late summer/early fall 2008. Phase II includes the remainder of the wastewater improvements, drainage improvements, water improvements and new curbed streets.

All Rio Vista neighbors and interested citizens are encouraged to attend. For more information please call the Department of Environment and Engineering at 512-393-8130.
