The Texas State athletic department announced Monday that Flintco and O’Connell Robertson have been selected as the design build team for the new Bobcat baseball and softball stadiums.

“It’s great to have two highly regarded companies in Flintco and O’Connell Robertson involved in this project,” said Texas State Athletics Director Larry Teis. “Both companies have worked on major projects, and Flintco is also involved with the Embassy Suites being built here in San Marcos. The new stadiums for baseball and softball are an important cornerstone of what we’re trying to build here at Texas State.”

Flintco and O’Connell Robertson are regarded as industry leaders and have worked on a variety of athletics projects, including the multi-million dollar renovation project of Disch-Falk Field at the University of Texas at Austin. Flintco vice president John A. Martin, head of the company’s Texas Operations Office, will help oversee the design build team.

“The entire Flintco team is excited to be a part of enhancing these facilities that will serve student athletes, Texas State staff and Bobcat fans for many years to come,” said Martin. “This is an important project for both Texas State and Flintco, and we look forward to working with Texas State athletics to provide a first-rate facility worthy of the first-rate athletics program for which the school is known.”

O’Connell Robertson will handle the design phase of the Bobcat baseball and softball stadiums, expanding on the feasibility study that included conceptual designs for the facilities Texas State completed in April of 2007.

“The new stadiums will do two key things,” said Chris Lammers, principal in charge for O’Connell Robertson. “They help the baseball and softball teams get better, and they are going to bring more fans to increase community involvement.”

Flintco and O’Connell Robertson will use the first part of summer to finish the planning and design phase before major construction begins in August.
