Travis Elementary took the “Welcome Back to School” message to the streets — literally — when 17 pickup trucks full of teachers, administrators, and support staff paraded through neighborhoods on Aug. 15.

Beginning about 9:45 am, the portable pep rally drove through the Regency Mobile Home Park, C.M. Allen Homes, and Allenwood Homes before returning to the Travis Elementary parking lot. According to Travis principal Niki Konecki, Travis parents in these neighborhoods were notified in advance of the three parade locations and that teachers would be arriving to welcome students and families back with special surprises.

Konecki said, “Travis is excited about the upcoming new school year, and we want to share that excitement with our students and their families. We’re looking forward to great things when our doors open on August 25.”
