Tourism visitors from the Houston area as well as international visitors will visit the City of Kyle as they seek new "old places" to visit. They do not come for the stores alone. They come and visit the 15 historical sites in Kyle, the Texas Pie Company, Bordeaux's, Rail Road BBQ, Texas Old Town, Inn Above Onion Creek, Winfield Inn, Thunderhill Racetrack and the soon to be opened Old Town Gift Emporium etc. These visitors all have an opportunity to visit outlets in Houston and in the Valley yet they still choose to visit Central Texas and the Hill Country for pleasure.

Note the pic of one of Kyle's watertowers on the Mercury web page. Maybe with all this new revenue flooding in, Kyle can find the $ to raise Kyle's water pressure from 50psi to something reasonable. I have lived in many places in and out of Texas and have never lived with such paltry water pressure. Kyle can do better - even though they now claim the pressure is just fine.

Considering 45% of our operating revenue in San Marcos comes from sales tax, compared to 21% of Kyle's operating revenue, any little hit can hurt.

Perhaps we have too many eggs in the retail basket.

Given that the Mexican's have to drive through San Marcos, I think that most international shoppers will not make their way to Kyle.
