SUBMITTED REPORT

The Texas State football team is ranked 25th in this week’s NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision weekly polls by the division coaches and The Sports Network following their 27-24 upset win at No. 19 Central Arkansas last Saturday, Nov. 7 in Conway, Ark.

The win over Central Arkansas marked the second straight game in which the Bobcats have upset an FCS Top 25 team. Texas State also defeated No. 11 Stephen F. Austin in San Marcos on Oct. 31. Those two wins came after Texas State defeated Nicholls in Thibodaux, La., for the first time since 1999 and won a second straight road game in Louisiana for the third time since 1995.

The Bobcats will play their third straight game against a Top 25 team this Saturday, Nov. 14 when Texas State plays host to No. 10-ranked McNeese State in a game that will go a long way in deciding the 2009 Southland Conference championship.

Kickoff for the game is slated for 6:05 p.m., at Bobcat Stadium as Texas State tries to win its fifth straight game for the first time since 2005 and improve to 4-1 in home games this season. The win at Arkansas State give the Bobcats seven straight wins in Southland Conference road games dating back to 2008. Texas State finishes this season with a 3-0 SLC road record and was 4-0 in SLC road games in 2008.

The Bobcats and Cowboys are among four teams tied for first place in the Southland Conference standings with 4-1 league records. The other two teams are Southeastern Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin, who also play against one another this Saturday in Hammond, La.

Texas State enters Saturday night’s game with a 6-3 overall record this season and the Bobcats re-entered The Sports Network’s Top 25 poll for first time in five weeks after being ranked five weeks beginning with the preseason.
