A 45-year-old San Marcos man was killed in a traffic wreck on Tuesday on Texas 123.

Antonio Martinez, a resident of 103 Teron Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the intersection of Texas 123 and County Road 266, San Marcos police said.

Driving a 2002 Ford sport utility vehicle westbound on Texas 123, Mathew Espinoza, 17, collided with the victim’s 1999 Honda Civic traveling southbound on Old Bastrop Highway, County Road 266.

Police said Espinoza ran the red light at the intersection and collided with the victim’s vehicle. The Collision Investigation Team of the San Marcos Police Department is continuing its investigation into the fatal wreck. Results of the investigation will be forwarded to the Hays County District Attorney’s Office.

Justice of the Peace Joanne Prado pronounced the man dead at the scene.
