San Marcos police are looking for a man who burglarized a residence on Knox Street and assaulted an elementary age child about 6:20 a.m. Saturday.

The unidentified suspect was described as wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and a white hoodie type mask, said Police Commander Terry Nichols. He was last seen walking down Knox Street.

Anyone with information on the investigation is encouraged to call the San Marcos Police Department at (512) 753-2108.

According to Nichols, officers responded to the residence at 6:29 a.m. to investigate a burglary and assault of a child. They determined that at approximately 6:20 a.m. an unidentified male suspect entered the residence through a door that was not properly working.

The suspect brandished a long barreled weapon believed to be a shotgun and then assaulted an elementary aged child. A parent and sibling were asleep in the residence at the time of the assault. There were no life-threatening injuries to the victim. Police are continuing their investigation.
