San Marcos police arrested a San Marcos man Thursday night for aggravated kidnapping after he allegedly held a former girlfriend at knifepoint against her will.

Jailed at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center is Sergio Arce Jaimes, 21, on a charge of aggravated kidnapping, a first degree felony. Bond was set at $10,000.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, San Marcos police officers responded to a restaurant in the 1600 block of Aquarena Springs Drive to investigate a reported abduction.

Officers found that a 24-year-old woman, who was not identified, had been physically assaulted, forced into her vehicle and driven from the scene by her estranged boyfriend, said Commander Terry Nichols of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Family members of the abducted woman spoke with her by phone and determined that she was being held against her will.

Police located the suspect and his victim in a vehicle at a residence in the 900 block of Haynes Street. Jaimes was using a knife to hold the victim against her will, preventing her from escaping, Nichols said. He was arrested at the scene for aggravated kidnapping.

The victim received minor injuries during the incident and did not require immediate medical attention.
