Hays, Lehman take week off from football
STAFF REPORT
The two Hays CISD high school football teams are taking this week off as each prepares for District 17-4A play starting next Friday night.
The Hays Rebels, 2-3 after last week’s 35-24 loss to defending Class 4A Division I state champions Rosenberg Lamar, will open the district schedule next Friday night at Elgin.
The Lehman Lobos, 3-2 after last week’s 25-7 loss at Gonzales, will begin the District 17-4 schedule next Friday night against Manor at Bob Shelton Stadium.
Among the District 17-4A teams, Lockhart and Elgin captured the most victories with 4-1 records. Lehman is next at 3-2, followed by Hays (2-3), then Del Valle and Manor (both 1-4).
Of course, those records don’t matter. Only district results factor into which teams enter the high school football playoffs.
