TSU women finish 12th in Chicago golf meet

Finishing the Windy City Classic Tuesday with its best round, the Texas State women’s golf team finished 12th in the three-day event at the 72-hole Evanston Golf Course in Skokie, IL.

Purdue won the event with a three-day total of 891, followed by Texas Christian with 900 and Michigan with 902. The Bobcats shot a three-day total of 935.

However, the Bobcats turned it up to shoot a 303 Tuesday, right in there with the days’ leaders, TCU (297) and Purdue (300).

Trine Mortensen and Caitlin Bliss led Texas State with total scores of 231. Adin Stromgren shot the best Texas State round of the tournament with a Tuesday 72, bringing her final card in at 233. Sydney Liles shot 240 for Texas State, followed by Gabby De Reuck with 256.

Purdue’s Junthiman Gulyanamitta won the individual title with a total score of 212, including scores of 69 on each of the first two days.

Texas State will return to the competitive links on Nov. 2-3 at the Challenge at Wolfdancer in Austin.
