A joint investigation by San Marcos and Austin police has resulted in the arrest of two suspects in the Oct. 11 robbery of the Shell Super Stop located at 1525 Aquarena Springs Drive.

Ronald Glenn Boston Jr., 27, and Jacob LaPaul Hemphill,  21, both of Austin have been charged with aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, October 11, 2008, the suspects entered the Shell Super Stop on Aquarena Springs Drive and displayed a handgun while grabbing money from the cash register.

The suspects fled in a grey colored Pontiac four-door vehicle with a “donut” spare tire on the left front wheel. Approximately one hour later, the same two suspects robbed two other convenience stores at gunpoint in East Austin.

On Monday, November 3, the Austin Police Department received a tip identifying Boston and Hemphill as the suspects in the three robberies.

The pair was arrested in Austin on Wednesday, November 5 and has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery. Boston is being held on $60,000 bond and Hemphill is being held on $50,000 bond. Both are currently incarcerated at the Travis County Jail.

“This violent crime spree was solved by a tip from a concerned citizen,” said Cmdr. Terry Nichols. “We appreciate citizens getting involved and making a statement that this type of violent crime will not be tolerated in our communities.”
