Principal, four assistants reassigned in San Marcos school district
STAFF REPORTS
Two assistant principals have resigned and four others are being moved after the end of the year to new posts, San Marcos CISD Superintendent Patty Shafer announced today.
Goodnight Junior High assistant principal Rachel Solis and Miller Junior High assistant principal Enrique Garcia were leaving the district “due to opportunities for them in other school districts,” Shafer said. Meanwhile, Travis Elementary principal Cyntha Pavia is being reassigned to a position in the teaching and learning department in central administration.
Other administrative moves announced include:
- Ricardo Soliz, from Hernandez Intermediate assistant to Miller Junior High assistant principal.
- Beverly Smith, from Hernandez Intermediate assistant to Goodnight Junior High assistant.
- Amber Gilley, from teaching and learning coordinator to Hernandez Intermediate assistant principal.
- Christine Kent, Travis Elementary to Hernandez Intermediate assistant principal.
The changes were made “with the intention of maximizing success for the both campuses and the individual administrators involved,” Shafer said.
CLARIFICATION: As originally written, the article gave some readers the impression that the reassignments are being made immediately. They are effective at the end of the school year. Also, according to school district spokesperson Iris Campbell, Pavia is being moved at her request to the teaching and learning department but not as its director.
