From the city of San Marcos

The city of San Marcos has started construction on a new wastewater main and lift station along River Road, which will require road closures on River Road for 10 weeks from Aquarena Springs Drive to Davis Lane.

Starting Dec. 15, construction crews will begin excavating on River Road from Davis Lane to the existing River Road Lift Station at 2202 River Road.

Traffic will be detoured to Davis Lane, Aquarena Springs and Uhland Road. Residents in the area will have access to their driveways and mailboxes during the construction.

Cash Construction Company of Pflugerville, TX, was awarded the $1 million contract for the installation of a new wastewater main and lift station.

The project is part of the city’s Wastewater Capital Improvements Plan and includes construction of a new wastewater main that will carry wastewater by gravity flow from the Old Plant Lift Station, 400 feet east of IH 35 just north of Davis Lane, to the River Road Lift Station, located at 2202 River Road.

Wastewater lines upstream of the Old Plant Lift Station will also be increased in size. The existing River Road Lift Station will be rehabilitated and the Old Plant Lift Station will be abandoned. Completion of the entire project is expected in June of 2009.

For more information on the project, please call the Capital Improvements Department at 512-393-8130.
