San Marcos fire officials are investigating the cause of a Christmas day fire that claimed the life of an unidentified man and injured two firefighters.

An autopsy has been scheduled Friday to positively identify the man whose body was found in the burned home at 211 Luck Street, according to Interim Fire Chief Len Nored.

Firefighters were called to the home at 12:19 p.m. Thursday and found the wooden frame structure fully engulfed in flames. The unidentified man was found in the home and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two firefighters were injured battling the blaze. One suffered a shoulder injury and was transferred to Central Texas Medical Center where he was treated and released. Another suffered minor burns and was treated at the scene.

City Marshal Ken Bell is continuing the investigation of the cause of the fatal fire.
