Kyle to impose once-a-week watering

KYLE — Kyle residents will be limited to watering their yards to once a week starting April 6 under water restrictions being tightened in response to drought that grows worse despite decent rains.
Expecting additional pumping restrictions from the Edwards Aquifer Authority, the city is requiring residents to reduce their water consumption even further than current Stage 2 rules.
“It is important that residents take this mandatory watering schedule very seriously,” Kyle City Manager Tom Mattis said. “We will make every attempt to encourage people to comply voluntarily. However, we will aggressively enforce our watering restrictions for those residents that fail to follow the watering schedule.”
Watering is permitted on residents’ designated day only during the hours before 10 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Automatic irrigation systems may only operated between the hours of midnight and 10 am.

Violation of this ordinance constitutes a misdemeanor offense and carries a fine ranging from $50 to $2,000 per day of violation.
The restrictions are mandatory for city of Kyle water Customers. Kyle residents getting water from other companies should contact their respective water suppliers for information regarding watering restrictions.
