DA will decide whether to file kidnapping charges
STAFF REPORT
The Hays County district attorney will decide whether additional charges are in order, officials say, for 20-year-old Candra Michelle Kenny who took her in-law’s vehicle and two young children to Austin without the parents’ permission.
The girls’ parents left her with Kenny last night when they left home. Kenny, who is described in police reports as a drug user, then took the father’s 2001 Dodge pickup and drove the children to Austin , the release said. After reporting the girls missing, the parents searched areas of Austin frequented by Kenny and found them with the children unharmed.
Kenny is charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony. Prosecutors will decide whether to file additional charges, said Lt. Leroy Opiela, the Hays County Sheriffs Office spokesperson.
Anisa Moreno, 3, and Moriah Moreno, 8, have been returned to their parents without injury.
