STAFF REPORT
One person escaped a fire Thursday afternoon that appears to have started in the attic and swept through residential building in the Bracewood Circle Apartments near Burleson and Prospect streets.
Three of four units damaged by the blaze were unoccupied, Fire Marshal Ken Bell said. The occupant of the fourth was notified by a passerby and got out safely. The fire appears to have started about 5 p.m. he said, probably in the attic. He did not yet know what caused the fire.
A truck from South Hays fire department assisted San Marcos Fire Rescue because of a simultaneous traffic accident involving a trapped passenger, Bell said. Information on the traffic accident was not immediately available.
