Honorees will be inducted into the San Marcos High School Distinguished Alumnus Hall of Fame as part of the 2009 Rattler Roundup festivities, slated for October 16-17.

Members of the San Marcos Masonic Lodge No. 342 presented four Texas flags that had flown over the state capitol to the local SMCISD elementary schools in observance of Texas Public School Week.

As part of its ongoing effort to create a college-going culture in San Marcos CISD, Hernandez Intermedia School is hosting a Sixth Grade College Awareness Fair on Friday, Jan. 23. Two events will be held in the school library from 9-10:30 a.m. and from 1-3 p.m.

Group awarded City of San Marcos Educational Excellence Awards for the “iLearn Math” program assisting at-risk 8th graders

San Marcos CISD campuses and administrative offices will close for the Winter Break beginning Monday, Dec. 22. Monday, Jan. 5 will be a district staff workday, and students return to the classroom on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

School winners are eligible to win the national championship and its first prize, a $25,000 college scholarship, at the national competition May 19 and 20, 2009 in Washington, D.C.

San Marcos High School recently celebrated students who have participated in the Camino’s program by planting a tree in front of the campus.

Travis Elementary School’s team won the Red Ribbon Week attendance challenge with 69 participants.

The school children of Bowie Elementary School raised a total of $680 for the Hays County Area Food Bank.
