Texas State quarterback Bradley George was named the Capital One Bank/Southland Conference Football Student-Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Monday in conjunction with the release of the All-Academic Football Team.

Texas State senior quarterback Bradley George was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Year and four other Bobcats were selected to the All-Southland Conference First and Second Team selections in a vote of the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

With 14 seniors playing the final game of the collegiate careers, the Texas State football team ended the 2009 season in record-setting fashion as Bradley George threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns to help Texas State overcome three turnovers and defeat Sam Houston State 28-20 Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

In a game that resembled a heavyweight boxing match, the Texas State football team hit the final knockout punch with 27 seconds remaining when Bradley George hit Darius Bolden on a 24-yard touchdown pass to give the Bobcats a 27-24 victory at Central Arkansas in a regionally-televised game at Estes Stadium on Saturday night.
