San Marcos High School will compete in District 25-5A starting next school year under University Interscholastic League reclassification announced Monday morning.

Hays CISD officials say they do not know what caused a light mast at Sheldon Stadium to collapse on Friday except that wind was a factor.

One of the four large light poles at Shelton Stadium snapped at about 6 p.m. today, falling through the roof of Bales Gym, Hays CISD spokesperson Julie Jerome said. She did say what caused the mast to fall.

Neither San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District nor Hays CISD schools will be in session on Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
