San Marcos High School will compete in District 25-5A starting next school year under University Interscholastic League reclassification announced Monday morning.

Selected each year by their peers, San Marcos Consolidated Independent School Districts’ Teachers of the Year will be honored this week with a banquet hosted by Time Warner Cable and the San Marcos Education Foundation.

Pre-Kindergarten registration for the upcoming school year begins on May 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1-4 p.m., at Bonham Pre-K School, 211 Lee Street.

The public is invited to the San Marcos Area League of Women Voters’ San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District school board candidate debate, scheduled 7 p.m. Monday, April 27 at the San Marcos Activity Center.

“I’m glad that there is closure at last on the issue. It’s kind of amazing that it took three years to take no action and do nothing but that’s a reminder of how our processes work, I guess,” the Austin Community College president told San Marcos business leaders.
